the cover everyone forgets. until they need it.
Accidental death, permanent disability, temporary disability daily cash, hospitalisation assistance. 24×7 worldwide protection, low premium, high cover. Not a replacement for health insurance — it's what pays out when an accident stops an income, not just a body.
six covers. one number.
Personal Accident is the cheapest meaningful cover most people don't own. Roughly ₹2,000-5,000 a year buys ₹1 crore of cover. Here are the six benefits the policy actually pays — directly from the insurer's policy document.
If accidental death occurs, the full sum insured is paid to your nominee. No medicals, no waiting period — accident cover triggers from day one of the policy. Standard sum-insured ranges from ₹25L to ₹2 crore depending on the plan.
If an accident leaves you with total or partial permanent disability, a lump-sum benefit is paid based on the disability schedule in the policy. Helps cover income loss when you can't return to your earlier work.
If a temporary disability keeps you out of work, the policy pays a daily cash benefit (typically ₹1,000-5,000/day) for the recovery period. Bridges the gap when sick leave runs out and the salary stops.
If you're hospitalised due to an accidental injury, the policy reimburses hospital expenses. This is on top of your regular health insurance — covers the gap (room rent caps, sub-limits, deductibles) that health policies leave behind.
Protection is 24×7 and global. The cover doesn't switch off when you cross a border. Useful for frequent travellers, families with kids on school trips, professionals on overseas postings.
Optional rider that pays a lump sum towards children's education in the event of the parent's accidental death. Some plans add a transport allowance. Tiny additional premium for the peace of mind.
who actually needs this?
From the insurer's product flyer — these are the six profiles the cover is built for. The premium is low enough that for most working adults with dependents, this is a no-brainer once the term + health basics are in place.
Office-going employees, sales reps, anyone who commutes daily on Mumbai roads or trains. The Bandra-Worli link, the local during rush hour, the bike to the metro — all places this cover earns its premium.
No employer-provided cover. No paid sick leave. If a recovery takes 90 days, the income stops. Daily cash benefit + hospitalisation rider becomes essential rather than nice-to-have.
Student floaters and family covers exist with very low per-head premiums. Useful for college kids in hostels, kids who travel for sports, families with teens learning to ride.

Who is covered under a personal accident policy?
The policyholder is the primary insured. Most plans allow you to add a spouse and children as additional insured (family floater) at a small additional premium. Group personal accident covers entire teams under one policy — useful for small business owners covering their staff.
What counts as an "accident"?
Insurer definitions usually say: sudden, unforeseen, involuntary event caused by external, violent, visible means. Road accidents, falls, fire-related injuries, snake bites are covered. Self-inflicted injury, suicide attempts, intoxication, and injury during illegal activities are excluded. War, nuclear events, and pre-existing conditions are typically excluded.
Do I need this if I already have life + health insurance?
Often yes. Term insurance covers death from any cause but doesn't pay a disability benefit. Health insurance reimburses hospitalisation but doesn't replace income during recovery. PA fills both gaps cheaply — disability income + daily cash during recovery + accidental hospitalisation top-up.
What does it actually cost?
Premiums are tiny relative to the cover. Roughly ₹2,000-5,000 a year for ₹1 crore cover for a 30-year-old in a desk job. Higher for high-risk professions (delivery, construction, transport). Premium goes up with sum insured, riders, and risk class.
Do I pay funds to wealth anything for this?
No. You pay only the premium, exactly as priced by the insurer — nothing extra for coming through us. Insurance is solicited via D2C Insurance Broking Pvt. Ltd. (RenewBuy), an IRDAI-licensed broker, and everything we do operates within IRDAI rules. The honest fine print is at /disclosures.
Can I buy this as a rider on my term policy?
Some term plans allow Accidental Death Benefit as a rider for an additional premium. It's cheaper than a standalone PA in some cases. But a standalone PA usually covers more scenarios (disability, daily cash, hospitalisation) than a rider does. We'll compare both for you.
